Sublime

Nice doggy.

Now, most of you will have heard of Sublime, as they were arguably one of the most inspirational bands of the 90s. They play an incredibly interesting type of music, with a mix of many different genres and styles.

They seamlessly (almost) mix ska, punk rock, reggae, acoustics, and quite a few elements of 90s hip hop. Fantastic guitar work (listen to the solos in the tracks at the bottom of the post), driving bass lines, and some pretty good horn work are present in a lot of their songs. Great vocals by Bradley Nowell, who, as you may know is now passed away, at a very similar time to Kurt Cobain (which is fantastic for people who write conspiracy theories). However, Bradley is much more talented, because Nirvana suck*. The lyrics are actually about proper, interesting things, instead of about kissing a girl who was totally loverrrrllllly while riding your bike without handlebars and complaining about how you want to be a rock star (I'm fully aware thats not very funny).

If you like all the songs that I just mentioned, feel free to shoot yourself. If you can't name any of them I respect you greatly.

So anyway, Sublime are now long gone, due to Bradley's tragic death in 1995, though they had a number of releases after his death of various compilations, CDs of live shows, and various videos including the video for "Santaria".

So yeah, I recommend you go and buy one of their albums, if not two. I'd recommend their self titled album "Sublime", "40oz To Freedom" or "Robbin' The Hood." Sublime are one of those bands you have to hear, as I'm pretty sure you'll like it, unless you’re very closed minded. However, if you're a music lover that's not a 13 year old boy, you will probably have heard of them.
