ClayPigeon

Jon's note: I'm to blame for this post being so late. Was away and couldn't proof-read until now. Sorry!

Today's band is ClayPigeon (yes, it is one word), and I very much doubt you have heard of them. I saw them live a while back with The Skints whom I love dearly, and have wanted to tell people about them for a while.

ClayPigeon play a kind of fast reggae/punk (it's not really ska, the offbeat isn't prominent enough), mixed with some really strange vocals (in a good way). The vocals aren't exactly rapping, but more a kind of very fast singing, as it's still rather tuneful. It's strange, but nonetheless very good. Apparently they have a guy who beatboxes in their songs, but I can only just hear him, and he wasn't there when I saw them live, so I'm guessing he's not that important. However, it claims that he's the second best in britain, so he can't exactly be bad.

Well whatever, they might not be to your taste, but I think that they're good, and deserve a small mention. Their live act is also very impressive, and if you get the chance, go and see them. However they just finished touring with The Skints, so you might have to wait a while to catch them. Their original self-titled EP is up on sale at Genin Records for just £3, so get a copy if you like them. They also have a new (slightly better) EP, Gimme Dat EP, which I own a copy of, and it's an extremely good purchase if you like the stuff on their MySpace. Listen to their music there, and if you like it, I fully encourage you to support them by buying!
