I did have a really good idea for B is for B-sides today - I'd been waiting all week just to feature it (and the respective A-side, of course). I got home today after a six-hour band practice, flopped down in front of the computer, and... it turns out iTunes has deleted it. So, a slight change of plan for this week, but just you wait until next week - it'll be great.

As a backup, I always had NOFX's Timmy The Turtle in mind. It's a great song, if you don't take it too seriously. It's sung by Duncan from Snuff, and they've made sure they've included the stereotypical English accent - trust me, not all of us talk, or sing, like that. Expect Paul McCartney. He's weird.
The single was available on a limited run of 9,537 copies on green vinyl. I have a copy, but I'm looking to get another one (variation and all that... you wouldn't understand).

The B-side is entitled The Plan. It's actually far more of a typical NOFX song than Timmy The Turtle is, and it's about twice as long as well. While it's not as great a song as one's we've grown used to in recent years, remember that it was late 1990s when this was written, and not late 2000s. It's in no way bad, just not as good as NOFX have proven they can do. At least it's not anything as appalling as their self-titled EP, eh? With a comedic A-side, you'd be expecting the same from the B-side, but this is a serious NOFX piece, much like other issue-tackling NOFX ditties. To be honest, I don't have the faintest idea what Fat Mike's ranting on about, but it sounds serious and controversial. Whatever it's about, it's good.

. I'd be happy to feature your band! Just write me a quick note saying what type of music you play, maybe a link to your website/MySpace, and include a link to a few downloadable songs if you can (submissions without samples are usually disregarded).
