Well not quite, but these guys are good.

I can quite easily say this is best Nottingham based ska band I've ever heard. Maybe it's quite an easy title to win, seeing as I'm currently racking my brains for any other ska bands from Nottingham I might know of, and have currently thought of none. Disregarding my lack of input into bands from Nottingham, this band is awesome. When I first hear a new band I listen out for the all important musicianship, and I confirm that A Is For Ape are full of it. Just listen to the slick introduction of the relative minor by the trumpet in Once More Over The 617. Not just anyone can stick something that cool into a ska track.
Another thing I like about A Is For Ape is that they take full advantage of their horn section, and rightly so, as it's quite plainly the most important section as I've said countless times. There's brilliant trumpet and sax solos in End Of An Era, something rarely seen in this guitar-obsessed world. Genius.
These tracks are samples only remember - if anyone deserves your money in return for some great music, it's A Is For Ape.
A Is For Ape - Once More Over The 617 (mp3, 4.2mb)
A Is For Ape - End Of An Era (Don't Go) (mp3, 7.1mb)
There's only so much I can say to hype up a band. Just trust my judgement, and download some A Is For Ape off iTunes. You won't regret it.
EDIT: Not available on iTunes, but here!

. I'd be happy to feature your band! Just write me a quick note saying what type of music you play, maybe a link to your website/MySpace, and include a link to a few downloadable songs if you can (submissions without samples are usually disregarded).

Cheers for the comments Jon, its much appreciated. We're yet to get the stuff onto Itunes (working on it) but you can buy a copy of the EP for a small sum from our site www.aisforape.co.uk. Cheers again Jon, when we get some new stuff we'll send it your way. Nicky B
