B is for B-sides #2

Oh yes, it's officially weekly now. Here's B is for B-sides number 2, after the extreme popularity of last week's (Thank You Girl is now the most downloaded song from the blog).

Today we look at an all-time classic, of course along with its B-side. Bob Geldof's genius used to shine through while he was with The Boomtown Rats, as displayed in the awesome "I Don't Like Mondays." Everyone knows the song, so there's no point in wasting too much time talking about it. However, if you have time, check out the video on YouTube or somewhere else. As well as getting my vote as best rock video ever, it should also deserve the prize for most hilariously over the top.

(Apologies for my terrible photography skills)

So what's the B-side like? "It's All The Rage" is a fast-paced typical rock song, much like the rest of material by the Rats (but contrasting to I Don't Like Mondays). It's a particularly catchy track, but out of all the songs I could have stuck in my head, this one is definitely one of those I wouldn't mind too much. It makes good use of backing vocals, as is normal conduct by The Boomtown Rats. All in all, it's a great track, and of much higher quality than is expected of a B-side - not that I'm complaining.

A-side: The Boomtown Rats - I Don't Like Mondays (mp3, 5.1mb)
B-side: The Boomtown Rats - It's All The Rage (mp3, 1.6mb)

By the way, I'm 99% sure this is the only place on the web you can download this song. iTunes don't even have it. Go me!
